Values & Accomplishments

enFAMILIA is a 9 year old organization who dedicates its time to be an instrument for dads and moms so they can improve their relationship with their children. The curriculums used to educate the parents are researched based and combines psychology and skills needed to evaluate and improve parenting. The fathers and mothers learn how to discipline with love, communicate with respect, evaluate their values and deal with stress. Also if other services are needed such as counseling, domestic violence prevention, health, legal aid, etc they are referred to the different partners. enFAMILIA partnership includes Centro Campesino, the SOS program within the Homestead Police Department, the Gear-Up program with Florida International University, the Department of Education with the University of Miami and the WeCare of South Florida

P.E.A.C.E.  (Partners Exercising Awareness Community Effort)

Each week a different topic is introduced to the parents, using the Nurturing Parents Skills curriculum.

Art Education

Since 2003, the Art-In-Action Camps continue to open and build communication within the community through social awareness and artistic collaboration.  A.S.T.E.P. (Artist Striving To End Poverty), professional artists who have graduated or are attending universities through out the United States such as, Juilliard, University of Miami, and New York University (to name a few) come to Homestead for two months in the summer and volunteer as teachers for our summer camp students.  The camp is intended to recognize and foster local young talented children by opening up opportunities for their future, providing avenues of self-expression, and stimulating thoughts about issues of social impact. The Camp encompasses a diverse and intense curriculum of Music, Dance, Poetry, Visual Arts, Drama, Film and Photography.  Originally, the program lasted two weeks for middle school camp and two weeks for the high school camp, but now due to successful expansion, it has become a three week camp for both.
Two roof-raising performances are created at the end of each camp by students with the assistance of the volunteer teachers.

We are proud to announce the incredible success of our 2010 AIA summer camp!!!

The middle school camp took place from June 14 through July 2 with the theme “Discover, Explore, Embrace, Pass it on…” A total of 80 students were enrolled and 62 graduated (77.5%). The final performance was held on the Everglades Community Association, on July 1st at 6:30 PM.

The high school camp went from July 19 – August 6 and their theme was: “An Arrgh-tists for me: Weigh the Anchor, Choose your Course and Set Sail!” Their final performance took place at the same location on August 5, at 6:30 PM. A total of 70 students were enrolled and 55 graduated (78.5%).

Out of School Art Program

The Out-of-School Art Program is a collaboration between eight agencies: Centro Campesino, enFAMILIA, GALATA, H.O.W, Little Kingdom, South Dade Weed and Seed, Sweet Vine, and WeCare as the Lead Agency, funded by The Children's Trust. These agencies provide a free after school program to the students of the Deep South area, assisting them with homework, tutoring, and physical fitness. enFAMILIA's responsibility to the Out-of- School Program is to provide the Art component (Out-of-School Art Program) for these local agencies that are active with the partnership. enFAMILIA's, Art, Drama, Visual Arts, Dance, Fashion Design and Music teachers travel to the After School Centers, twice a week, and at the end of each semester, the students have the opportunity to exhibit their work and perform for their families and community members. The first performance is in December called " A Multi-Cultural Event" and the second, "The End of School Year Celebration." Students have the opportunity to exhibit their work, create a fashion show, and perform dance, sing and perform dramatic monologues.

Group Leaders

Group Leaders are mentors who have participated in "Art-In-Action Summer Camp", and are presently in High School. These students are role models to our younger campers. They play two major roles in the Art-In-Action experience, one is to continue communication through out the school year and second to provide services for the community in the field of performance, fundraising, and education awareness.

Thank you so much for your support in this lifelong journey devoted to enrich our community.
Sincerely,
